Landscape made by Man
Inspired by the sense of restlessness behind Stephen Shore’s work, I sought to find locations not limited to a specific area: with a focus on parallel lines and sparse space. My focus was to find scenes where there was a noticeable element of the manmade presence of mankind being forced or placed into nature. Examples include new build estates being constructed, tiny homes or villages surrounded by woodlands and mountains, a scenic river with a modern/industrial bridge constructed over it, and sculptures crafted out of nature’s elements or placed inside it. Though I bore the photos of the other photographers in mind, Stephen Shore’s imagery was my preferred point of reference in my own work: as he doesn’t exclusively have only one subject of man-made creations in the scene but a variety of things, as used as my example image of his which has a telephone booth, roads, street sign, telephone and power lines
